Athletistic / Olympic Games. Russian world athletics champion Sergei Shubenkov has expressed disappointment at the Olympic Games.
“Now I’m relaxed and having fun. The 2024 Olympics will take place without us!”
Yes, the Olympics are an event worth worrying about, but somehow I survived everything in 2016, and in 2021, I even finished it.
“I will not watch the Paris Olympics. What did I not see there? In general,” Shubenkov said, quoted by Match TV.
Sergei Shubenkov became the world champion in the 110 meters hurdles in 2015. In June 2024, he took second place in the same discipline at the BRICS Games in Kazan. The 33-year-old Russian won two silver medals and one bronze at the World Championships, as well as two gold medals and one silver at the European Championships.
Russian athletes are allowed to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris with a neutral status and subject to a number of criteria. This politicized decision by the IOC is linked to the events in Ukraine.
