Guberniev on Stupak’s departure from the Russian national team: “Yulia made an adult decision, she doesn’t go with the flow”

Olympic cross-country skiing champion Yulia Stupak who left the Russian national team, does not go with the flow and knows how to make serious adult decisions, said the presenter Dmitry Guberniev .

On Tuesday, Stupak said she had left the Russian national team of her own free will to try her hand outside of the sport and was now training freely.

– Julia, well done! This is a new challenge for her; she does not go with the flow. Julia is the person who proves that she is able to think, make serious adult decisions and not go with the flow, like many skiers. Now it is time to try yourself outside of sports. In times like these, we have to do a lot. Besides, Stupak has already won an Olympic gold medal. I wish her every success, I treat her with great respect,” Guberniev told the correspondent.

In mid-April, the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) approved the list of candidates for the national team and the composition of training groups for the 2024/25 season. Stupak, 29, joined the preliminary group of coach Yegor Sorin.
