Shakhtar announces contract extension with Vinicius Tobias

The Brazilian defender has signed a new five-year contract with the club

Miner announced the extension of the contract with the defender Vinicius Tobias.

The Brazilian signed a new five-year contract with the club, which runs until June 30, 2029. The Brazilian’s previous agreement with Shakhtar expired in the summer of 2026.

Vinicius Tobias has spent the last two seasons on loan in Madrid, playing for Real Castilla. It was initially assumed that Blancos would buy the defender from Shakhtar at the end of the current season, but Carlo Ancelotti did not express any desire to see the player in his team.

In the 2023/24 season, Vinicius Tobias played 21 matches for Real Castilla, scoring four assists. The Brazilian also played for the Blancos first team in the Spanish Cup match against Arandina (3:1).

In the last friendly match, Shakhtar defeated Turkish Rizespor (5:0), and one of the goals was scored by Vinicius Tobias.

The miners are holding their first summer training camp at the Slovenian national team training base in Brdo. The training will continue until July 28. Earlier, Shakhtar managed to play three friendlies in Slovenia: they won a crushing victory over Bosnian Sarajevo (4:1), drew with Croatian Hajduk (1:1) and lost by a narrow margin to Serbian club Backa Topola (0:1).

Marino Pusic’s team starts the new UPL season with a match against Poliesie in the second round. The match against Vorskla in the first round has been postponed to a later date due to the players of both teams being called up to the Ukrainian Olympic team.
