Former figure skater Fedorova: “Choreographer-director is the only sporting path I see myself in right now”

Former Russian figure skater Lina Fedorova told that at the moment she sees herself in sport only as a choreographer.

Earlier it became known that 26-year-old Fedorova joined Alexander Volkov’s group as a choreographer.

— How did you come to the conclusion that you would work in Volkov’s group?

— It turned out quite spontaneously. Even before my trip to Sochi for the training camp, coach Artem Kazakov wrote to me and suggested that I try, he said that there was a lot of work, that there was a lot to do before the start of the season and at the beginning of the season, and then it will go further or not. I agreed and have been coming to the rink for several days now, working with a large number of athletes, both adults and juniors. Among adults, I think everyone knows Artem Kovalev, Semyon Danielyants was seen at the World Championships. All the guys are cool, original and it’s a pleasure to work with them.

— How comfortable are you as a choreographer?

– Very comfortable. When I choose a profession, I start from what interests me and what captivates me. Choreographer-director is the only sporting path I see myself in at the moment. I always said that I didn’t want to be a coach. And a choreographer is a creative profession, a constant flight of imagination, a splash of one’s emotions into the staging.

— Have you ever thought about any production ideas?

“I have been doing this all summer, I have organized a bunch of programs at the Sochi training camp, I teach dancing, and it is not difficult to transfer ideas from the floor to the ice. The work is underway, there is not much time left before the rentals, we work non-stop. Follow the successes of Volkov’s group, I hope we can pleasantly surprise you,” Fedorova told .

During her career, alongside Maxim Miroshkin, Fedorova became a two-time bronze medalist at the World Junior Championships and a silver medalist at the Winter Youth Olympic Games.
