European swimming champion Maria Kameneva said she will miss the final starts of the long-course season due to injury, but plans to return for the fall-winter short-course season.
The Russian Cup final begins in Yekaterinburg on July 23.
“Unfortunately, I am forced to miss the Russian Cup final this year due to health reasons. I will say right away that nothing terrible or serious happened to me. These are just the consequences of an injury that appeared in early 2023, and it turns out that it would be dangerous to perform now, which is why the decision was made to skip the competition and undergo treatment,” Kameneva wrote on her Telegram channel.
In a conversation with a correspondent, Kameneva confirmed that she would miss not only the Russian Cup final, but also the Baltic Sea Cup in Kaliningrad.
— Are we waiting for you on the short course?
“Yes,” Kameneva confirmed.
