Athletistic / Sailing. The winner of the Russian Sailing Championship Kirill Tereshkin spoke about the fight that took place during the national championship in Togliatti in September 2023. Because of this fight, the athlete was disqualified for six months.

“I needed to load my boat. At that moment, two guys from another class were passing by me. I asked them respectfully: “Guys, please, we all know each other, but I know they don’t treat me very well, plus I have a medal, but they don’t. One seemed to agree, but the second one didn’t want to and I walked past him: “Next time, I won’t help you. Then his colleague said: “You’re the same.” Are you talking to my helmsman?

Then he pushes me, throws me to the ground and starts to finish me off while I’m lying down. And at some point my father intervenes – like any father and any normal person. After that the second one pushes my father into a metal trailer, my father falls, his eyebrow is cut off and he loses consciousness. It’s good that an ambulance crew was on duty at the competition and gave him first aid.

I immediately filed a protest. The situation happened an hour before the awards ceremony. These two file a protest against me in response. The committee makes a decision: Tereshkin did not violate any ethical standards. And these guys are disqualified. But in the end, the story ends with the fact that on February 17, 2024, I learn that I was suspended for six months and my father for a year, “Tereshkin was quoted as saying by Sport-Express.

Currently, Kirill Tereshkin is suing the All-Russian Sailing Federation over the disqualification decision.
