The midfielder will sign a two-year contract with the Croatian club
Hajduk reached an agreement with Al-Shabab about the midfielder’s transfer Ivan Rakitic.
Rakitic’s contract with Hajduk will be signed until June 30, 2026.
For Rakitic, the upcoming performance for Hajduk will be his first experience of playing for Croatian clubs. Ivan was born in Switzerland and is a product of Basel, and Croatia is the homeland of his parents.
Rakitic also has 106 matches and 15 goals for the Croatian national team, with whom he won silver at the 2018 World Cup. The midfielder ended his international career in 2019.
Rakitic played for Sevilla at the beginning of last season and moved to Al-Shabab in January. The Croatian signed a contract until June 2025. Ivan played eight matches in the Saudi Arabian championship, scoring one goal and making one assist.
At the end of the 2023/24 season, Hajduk finished third in the Croatian championship, 14 points behind the leader, the permanent champion of recent years, Dinamo. This summer, the legendary Gennaro Gattuso took charge of Hajduk. Al-Shabab finished the championship in Saudi Arabia in eighth place.
