Mihavko: I am very grateful to Lucescu and Shovkovskiy for the chance in my career, for the trust and the opportunity to prove myself

The 19-year-old defender made his debut for Dynamo in the second half of last season

Defender Dynamo Taras Mikhavko shared his emotions regarding his performances for the first team of Kiev last season.

“At first I played for the youth team, in fact I spent the entire first half of the 2023/24 season in the UPL U-19 championship. But Mircea Lucescu began to involve me in the first team training, and Oleksandr Shovkovskiy spoke to me there.”

“What do you remember from the conversations with Lucescu and Shovkovskiy? I am very grateful to both of them for the chance in my career, for the trust and the opportunity to prove myself. They supported me, suggested how to play better in this or that moment.”

“Debut against Metalist 1925? I understood how important this moment was for me, I was a little nervous, but there was no nervousness or, even more so, panic. They conveyed to me clear requirements for the game, explained how to act against this opponent.”

“Who got it the most, who could “cram” the team? For example, I only played in goal under Bushchan. If Georgy already says something, then there is nothing to argue about – he prompts everything correctly. I am grateful for all the comments on the matter, I do not take offense, but on the contrary, I take everything into account.”

Mikhavko played 8 matches for Dynamo in the last UPL competition.

The defender is currently playing with the Ukrainian U-19 team at the 2024 European Youth Championship. In the first round, Mykhailenko’s team drew with Northern Ireland (0:0).

Dynamo will start the new season next Tuesday, July 23. Oleksandr Shovkovskiy’s team will play Partizan in the second qualifying round of the Champions League in a nominally “home” match in Lublin, Poland.
