Figure skater Semyon Solovyov In an interview with , he spoke about his growing popularity in his hometown after his first season at the adult level.

Solovyov is the winner of the St. Petersburg Cup stage. He trains in the group of Artur Gachinsky. At the Russian Championship last season, the 18-year-old skater took eighth place.

— You became more popular after your first season at the adult level. How did that manifest itself?

— We discovered it at competitions, took pictures. I take it calmly, people look – and I thank you for it. It’s a bit nice, but objectively speaking, I’m not very well-known.

People in Murom know me. Once I came to the local market with my mother, we were shopping for a barbecue – and the sellers began to recognize us and say that “this is our figure skater.” They wrote about me in the public pages and regional newspapers – and someone, apparently, remembered it.

— Do you often come to your hometown?

— Unfortunately, we don’t have such long breaks to rest anymore. I try to come about twice a year.

— Do you know any other famous athletes from Murom?

— We didn’t have any famous figure skaters. The rink opened in my time. The skier Ivan Yakimushkin from Murom… but I don’t know anything else.
