Athletistic / Olympic Games. Organizers of the opening ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris are facing major problems. A week before the event, they received a notification from representatives of the artists’ union that a strike had begun.
A scandal has erupted within the French Performing Arts Union (SFA) over the amount of artists’ salaries. It seems that the strike threatens not only the entire opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games, but also threatens to disrupt the rehearsal of the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games.
“Dress rehearsals for the Olympic and Paralympic Opening Ceremonies are currently underway, but we regret to inform you that we have filed a notice of strike action on 26 July 2024, as well as during the upcoming rehearsals for the Paralympic Opening Ceremonies. The slogan is now everywhere on the streets of Paris: ‘Together we will do more’, but we note that our working conditions have not been discussed with us. We also want to point out questionable practices, flagrant inequalities of treatment and a lack of social dialogue during the preparations for these celebratory events,” the Mirror quotes the SFA’s official statement.
More than 3,000 artists and 400 dancers are taking part in the staging of the opening ceremony of the 2020 Olympic Games, which is scheduled to take place on July 26 on the banks of the Seine. Currently, the organizing committee of the 2024 Olympic Games is in negotiations with all interested parties to minimize the risks of disruption to the ceremony.
