Russian figure skating coach Irina Zhuk commented on the reduced quota for the Russian national team at the World Championships in 2023 and expressed hope that common sense would prevail within the International Skating Union (ISU) .
Earlier, the ISU decided to reduce the Russian quota for the 2022/23 World Figure Skating Championships to a minimum.
– To be honest, I don’t even want to comment on anything yet, because it’s unclear how everything will turn out in the end and if our athletes will be allowed at all. What’s the point of talking about quotas now if no one has invited us yet? Nevertheless, I remain convinced that common sense will always prevail in the ISU, – Zhuk RT quotes the words.
In the spring, the ISU suspended Russian and Belarusian figure skaters from all competitions under the auspices of the organization until further notice.
