Ruiz fought Joshua twice in 2019
Former World Heavyweight Champion Andy Ruiz celebrated his return Anthony Joshua after two defeats from the Ukrainian world champion Alexandra Usik. According to the American, he is ready to meet the Briton again.
“He did a really good job. Everything that happened after his two losses in a row just shows that anyone can come back. You just need belief and determination. He didn’t want to prove it to people, he wanted to prove it to himself, just like I did.
Will there be a third fight with Joshua? God willing. I am humble enough to say that I need to move up the ladder, get fights and win. God willing, I know I will win,” Ruiz said.
Let’s recall that Ruiz fought Joshua twice in 2019. In the first fight, Andy won an early victory and won three championship belts, but lost on points in the rematch. After the fight, both boxers admitted that a third fight could take place between them.
Ruiz has not entered the ring since September 2022. Then Andy defeated Luis Ortiz by unanimous decision, knocking his opponent down three times.
Andy will have his next fight on August 3 against another American Jarrell Miller. The fight will take place on the undercard of the fight between former absolute champion in two weight categories Terence Crawford and WBA champion in the first middleweight weight Israil Madrimov.
