Croatian is sincerely committed to Shakhtar
Shakhtar director of football Dario Srna spoke about his devotion to the Donetsk club. Horvath stressed that he is now in his place and is trying to bring maximum benefit to the Pitmen.
“Lucescu and Jovićević are different stories. Jovichevich was in Dnipro-1 for a year and a half, he was not there for 16 years, or 12, or 10. I would never go to Dynamo in my life. If I did this, then tomorrow my wife would leave me.
“Lucescu crossed out his history with Shakhtar, unfortunately. Fans will never forgive him for moving to Dynamo. That’s all. I would never go to Dynamo Kyiv in my life. And I’m sure that Yarmolenko would never go to Shakhtar in his life. I think it’s right.”
“Here I was playing a friendly charity match with Shovkovsky. I am sure that he would not have moved to Shakhtar. He knows that I would not go to Dynamo. We played with him for the first time in the same team, we joked. He is a very nice guy. We knew what we were playing for.”
“I always wish Shakhtar well. If you put me as head coach, then I’m not sure that this will be the right decision. I believe in myself, but I myself know that I am not ready for this. I love Shakhtar so much that I won’t go against him. That’s all”.
“Today there are coaches who will give Shakhtar more, will bring more benefits than me. I am where I am, growing and learning every day. Of course, it is impossible to always make the right decisions. But the most important thing is that I draw conclusions from these wrong decisions.”
Srna retired from playing in 2019, after which he joined the coaching staff of Luis Castro. A year later, the Croatian moved to the position of Shakhtar football director.
As a football player, Srna spent 15 years at Shakhtar. During this time, he became the club’s record for games played (536), and also won 26 trophies with the Pitmen.
