Athletistic / Figure skating. The silver medalist of the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang (South Korea), Russian figure skater Alexander Enbert, told how he worked with Kamila Valieva and Alina Zagitova. They all crossed paths during the preparation of Tatiana Navka’s show “Ruslan and Lyudmila”.
“We had long rehearsals: day after day – evening, night, day, different. With Alina and Kamila we skated in pairs, and with the guys we prepared general performances. It seems to me that only work and multiple rehearsals allow it in the end. everything is put together, to create some kind of coherent story.
It was easy for me to work with Zagitova and Valievlya; we have known each other for a long time. Alina has already performed this show, she also knows my role, at certain moments she herself gave me hints and helped me, which was very useful. And with Kamila, we adapted the programs more to our needs. Tatiana Navka took part in them, she staged our solo programs, “Enbert said according to TASS.
On July 22, in Sirius (Big Sochi, Krasnodar Territory), Kamila Valieva stepped on the ice for the first time and performed after the CAS decision to disqualify her.
On January 29, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) published its decision in the Kamila Valieva case. The Russian athlete was disqualified for four years (the suspension is effective from December 25, 2021). All her results from that date were canceled. For this reason, on January 30, the International Skating Union (ISU) revised the results of the team figure skating tournament at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Games: as a result, the Russian team, due to Valieva’s disqualification, moved from first to third place, and the American team was recognized as the champion.
