“For the first time I visited many places where my ancestors came from” – figure skater Kolesov about his trip to Georgia

— Your lifestyle has changed radically: scheduled training, lots of physical activity, travel to tournaments and shows have disappeared. How did you feel during this first day of “sports freedom”?

– Actually, it’s psychologically difficult. It seems that you will now get enough sleep, relax, eat delicious food and do what you have been putting off for many years. At first it’s cool, but then you live like this for a week and you think: what should I do now? What do I really want in this life? Then I decided that I had to go somewhere. I went to Tbilisi to visit my relatives, lived there for a while, celebrated my birthday and saw what people were doing in the world. It helped me, because I got away from my situation a little: life had changed radically.

Then studies helped me. I went to university and really enjoyed my student life. Before, everything was individual, but now I could devote more energy to science. I don’t know yet exactly what I will do in the coming years; I don’t want to set myself any long-term goals. But I know for sure that I will find my calling.

— In Georgia, you were probably surrounded by care and fed from the heart.

— Yes, I was surprised how hospitable and attentive people can be. They didn’t even let me leave the house alone. That is, I said I wanted to go to the store, and they: “Let us buy everything ourselves! Just say what.”

I traveled to different addresses in Georgia because my relatives live in the village. My grandmother accompanied me everywhere, thanks to whom I am connected by roots to this people. For the first time, I visited many places where my ancestors and origins come from. I met distant relatives for the first time in my life, ”Kolesov told .
