Nagornyak: Dynamo scored exactly when it was hard

The coach noted the actions of Karavaev, who brought victory to the people of Kiev

Famous Ukrainian coach Sergey Nagornyak in an exclusive comment Sport Arena expressed his opinion about the victory of Kyiv Dynamo over Sturm in the qualifying match Champions League (1:0).

“The most important thing is that Dynamo won in a nominally home game. It was hard, but the Kyiv team endured and eventually won. We scored the ball just when it was hard.”

“Another goal by Karavaev this European Cup season? A good goal scored. Dubinchak shot well, and the ball landed on Oleksandr’s leg, who opened the scoring in the meeting. Karavaev did not play a defender in this fight. In the match against Sturm, Sasha played in the same position he used to play all the time. Karavaev scored a good goal, hit the goal on the fly!

“What are the chances of success in the second leg? There are always chances. Previously, a 1-0 win was better than a 2-1 win. But the away goals rule was abolished. It will be hard. But the chances are good for the people of Kiev, somewhere 50 to 50. Maybe Lucescu will come up with something again.”

“Dynamo won the first match, even though Tsygankov missed the fight. But Karavaev entered the field and scored the decisive goal.

Recall that during the warm-up before the match, Dynamo winger Viktor Tsygankov felt discomfort in the adductor muscle, which is why he could not enter the starting lineup. Tsygankov was replaced by Alexander Karavaev, who scored the winning goal in the game against Sturm.

The second leg between Sturm and Dynamo will take place on Tuesday, August 9th. The winner of the confrontation will play with the winner of the Benfica-Mitjylland pair in the play-off round of the Champions League qualification.
