Hearn admitted that the Lomachenko fight was the most unprofitable of his career in the promotion

The Ukrainian’s title fight was poorly organized by the functionary.

The head of the promotional company Matchroom Boxing, Eddie Hearn, spoke about his disastrous fight, which he prepared as a promoter.

According to the functionary, the fight of the Ukrainian former world champion in three weight categories, Vasily Lomachenko, against the Briton, Luke Campbell, was the most unprofitable for him.

“The biggest defeat was the fight between Vasily Lomachenko and Luke Campbell. It was my personal failure. I made a mistake, because I followed my feelings as a fan. It should have been a big event. It was Lomachenko – the first number even of the category. British boxers fans love him.

We got the whole O2 arena, but the television subscription ratings were low and I lost a lot of money. Bob Arum came along and cashed in on what I lost – I was hurt badly. It was a difficult night.”

Hearn talked about his most successful fight that he organized.

“Joshua vs. Ruiz rematch. Joshua made a lot of money that night, as did we. But if you think about sports, he never asked in the gym or in the ring how much we were going to make. We got money after the fact. Never the goal is money. The goal is to win,” Hearn told the BoxOffice podcast.

It will be remembered that in 2019 Lomachenko defeated Campbell by unanimous decision.
