Leading Ukrainian sabre fencer plans to take a rest after the Olympics
Ukrainian fencer Olga Harlan shared her expectations for her performance at Olympic Games 2024.
“As for the gold, of course, I have such a goal. I would really like it. It seems to me that everyone who is here now, in [олимпийской] village, who came to represent our country, thinks about “gold”. But here I agree with Elina [Свитолиной]If I stay focused on every fight, I will reach my goal.”
“I can honestly say that I will be happy with any medal. It is very important for me and our country.”
“What will I do after the Olympics? I will rest, that’s for sure. We’ll talk on August 4. I have competitions until the 3rd,” Harlan emphasized.
Let us recall that Olga, together with Alina Komashchuk, Elena Kravatskaya and Yulia Bakastova, will perform at the Olympics as part of the sabre team. The epee team will be represented by Joan Faybe Bezhura, Vlada Kharkova, Elena Krivitskaya and Darya Varfolomeeva.
The 2024 Summer Olympics will be held in France from July 26 to August 11. The competition will feature 329 sets of awards in 32 sports. Our country will be represented in Paris by 140 athletes in 23 sports. This is the smallest representation of the blue and yellow during their participation in the Olympics.
Today, the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games will take place – the standard bearers of the Ukrainian team will be tennis player Elina Svitolina and swimmer Mikhail Romanchuk.
