The Chinese lost to the New Zealander in March by decision of the judges
Chinese super heavyweight Zhang Zhilei (27-2-1, 22 KO) expects to have a rematch against the New Zealander in the foreseeable future Joseph Parker (35-3, 23 KO).
“Joseph Parker is a warrior and I don’t think he’s afraid of anyone. He’s definitely felt my power, but I don’t think he’s afraid of me or anyone else. He’s a warrior and we have a rematch clause, so hopefully it’ll happen in the next fight. I think I’m still within the time limit for a rematch and I believe we have the right to negotiate a rematch in this case, and that’s what I want,” Zhang said.
Recall that Zhilei lost to Parker in March 2024. It was reported that both boxers had agreed in advance on a potential rematch and were ready to fulfill the terms of the contract.
In early June, Zhilei defeated former world champion Deontay Wilder. The Chinese sent the American to the canvas in the fifth round, after which the referee recorded a technical knockout.
