Athletistic/OI-2024. Iraqi judoka Sajjad Ghanim Sehen has tested positive for doping ahead of the Paris Olympics, the International Testing Agency (ITA) has announced.

The positive result was found in a sample taken on July 23 and confirmed by a laboratory accredited by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) in Paris. The sample contained traces of banned substances – methandienone and boldenone, which are anabolic steroids.

This is the first case of a positive doping control at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Sekhen was informed of the result and provisionally suspended from competition in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Code and the IOC Anti-Doping Rules. He is prohibited from participating in competition, training or any other activity during the Games.

The athlete has the right to request an analysis of a B sample and to challenge the suspension before the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
