Vorskla Vice President Lysak: We can still sign one or two players by the end of the transfer window

Poltava club needs a defensive midfielder

Vice President Vorskly Oleg Lysak spoke about working on the transfer market, and also hinted at the team’s task for the upcoming UPL season – reaching the European Cup zone.

“In the off-season, we strengthened each line of the team with experienced players. By the close of the transfer window, we can still sign one or two players. In particular, we are looking for a qualified player for the support zone.”

“Vorskla is not only an adult men’s team. We are a classic European club (men’s, women’s and youth teams), we declared Vorskla-2 to the PFL, we are developing our own DYUSF. Each of the teams has the highest goals. We are striving to get into the Eurocup zone.”

In November 2023, a historic event for Ukrainian football took place: former Ukrainian national team player, multiple national champion Iya Andrushchak was officially appointed coach of the Vorskla U-19 men’s team. The young specialist received the right to work with the youth team based on the fact that she has a UEFA A-diploma.

This off-season, Poltava has already managed to extend the contract with the team’s main goalkeeper Pavlo Isenko, extended the loan of defender Viktor Kornienko from Shakhtar, and also signed the best player of the Montenegrin championship of the 2023/24 season, forward Demir Shkriel and former Polesie player Denis Ndukwe.

Two more new recruits of the Poltava team were two former players of Odessa Chornomorets – defender Luka Guchek and forward Samson Iede.

Vorskla finished 9th in the last UPL draw. Serhiy Dolganskyy’s team will start the new UPL season with a match against the winner of the playoff for a ticket to the UPL – Left Bank or Minaj. The match with Shakhtar in the first round has been postponed to a later date due to the call-up of players from both teams to the Ukrainian Olympic team.
