Russian swimmer Evgeny Somov said his mother supported him at the Paris Olympics.
Earlier Saturday, Somov reached the semifinals of the 100-meter breaststroke at the Paris Games, with a time of 59.83 seconds (13th overall in the preliminary heats). The top 16 swimmers, based on the results of the preliminary heats, advanced to the next stage.
“My mother is encouraging me here, she came to support me,” reports the correspondent, according to the words of a Russian mixed doubles player.
The semi-finals will take place on Saturday evening.
Somov is also entered in the Olympics to compete in the 50m freestyle.
The Olympic Games take place in Paris from July 26 to August 11. All Russian athletes compete in neutral status.
