Russian swimmer Evgeny Somov failed to qualify for the 100m breaststroke final at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The athlete covered the distance in exactly 1 minute (13th result in the semi-final) and did not reach the final. 8 swimmers qualified for the next stage; the best time was achieved by the British Adam Peaty (58.86 seconds).
Belarusian Ilya Shimanovich clocked 59.45 seconds (10th place in the semi-final) and also failed to reach the final.
The men’s 100m breaststroke finals will take place on Sunday evening.
Somov is also entered in the Olympics to compete in the 50m freestyle.
The Olympic Games take place in Paris from July 26 to August 11. All Russian athletes compete in neutral status.
