The decision to cancel was taken jointly by the organizing committee, the International Triathlon Federation and local authorities. The water contamination occurred due to rainfall on Friday and Saturday in Paris.
“A joint decision was taken to cancel the swimming part of the triathletes’ initiation training, as the water level does not guarantee the required quality,” the statement said.
The triathlon competitions at the Paris Olympics are scheduled for July 30 and 31.
