The opening ceremony took place on Friday in Paris. In his commentary, Babiazh expressed his dissatisfaction with what was happening, saying: “A world without sky, without people and without religions. This is a vision of the world that should include everyone. Unfortunately, this is a vision of communism.”
On Saturday, Polish television officially announced Babiaz’s suspension from his work at the Olympic Games. The channel’s statement said: “Mutual understanding, tolerance and reconciliation are not only the main Olympic ideas, but also the foundation of the norms that guide the new Polish television. We cannot allow them to be violated. Due to Przemyslaw Babiaz’s recent scandalous statements, he has been suspended from his official duties and will not comment on the Olympic competitions.”
Babiaz, 60, is one of Poland’s most respected sports journalists. He began his television career in 1992, broadcasting the Barcelona Olympics.
