Swimmer Miron Lifintsev finished the 100m backstroke in the 4x100m medley relay at the Russian Cup final with a result that was better than the junior world record for this distance.
The 18-year-old swimmer completed his relay leg in 52.08 seconds, surpassing his own achievement, set in April at the final of the Russian Championship in Kazan (52.34).
Lifintsev helped the St. Petersburg-1 team become the winner of the combined relay. The team, which also included Kirill Prigoda, Roman Shevlyakov and Egor Kornev, posted a result of 3 minutes 31.64 seconds. The team of the Republic of Tatarstan-1 finished second (3:37.96) and Moscow-1 third (3:38.15).
In the women’s 4x100m medley relay, the gold medals also went to the St. Petersburg-1 team (4.02.71), represented by Vlada Eggi, Evgenia Chikunova, Alexandra Kuznetsova and Alexandra Kurilkina.
