Roma made Girona first offer for Dovbyk in the amount of 35 million euros

Clubs are one step closer to a high-profile transfer

Roma did Girona first offer for transfer of Ukrainian forward Artem DovbykWolves’ starting bid was reportedly €35 million.

As previously reported, the 27-year-old footballer has already accepted the offer from the Roman club. Negotiations between Wolves and Girona will start at the beginning of next week.

Earlier, information appeared that Atletico coach Diego Simeone personally tried to contact the Ukrainian striker in order to convince him to move to the Madrid club. However, the Ukrainian did not want to communicate with the coach Matrasnikov.

Atletico had been pursuing Dovbyk’s transfer for a long time and were ready to pay 40 million euros, but the parties could not agree on the issues of agent commission and additional bonuses.

The forward decided to move to Rome after a personal conversation with Wolves coach Daniele De Rossi. The Ukrainian’s personal contract until 2029 has already been agreed upon: the clubs are currently discussing the financial side of the deal.

The parties agreed on an annual salary of four million euros, including bonuses. Roma are working on a formal offer from Girona of more than 30 million euros, excluding additional payments.

Among the numerous contenders for Dovbyk, Tottenham and Juventus, as well as Milan, were previously named. In addition, the Ukrainian was on the shortlists of Arsenal and Napoli.

Dovbyk’s current contract with Girona runs until 2028. The player himself was named Girona’s best player in the 2023/24 season. During the voting, the Ukrainian beat defender Eric Garcia and winger Savio.

Dovbyk moved from Dnipro-1 to Girona in August last year and had a phenomenal season. Artem became the top scorer in Primera with 24 goals, also made 10 assists, and Girona sensationally finished in the top 3 and qualified for the Champions League for the first time in history.

Roma have already signed two new players this off-season – AZ goalkeeper Matthew Ryan and Rennes midfielder Enzo Le Feu. There have also been reports of interest from the Romans in Villarreal striker Alexander Sørloth.

Daniele de Rossi’s team finished sixth in the last Serie A. Roma will face Cagliari in the first round of the new season.
