Italian Martinenghi wins 100m breaststroke in Paris

Nicolo beats three-time Olympic champion Adam Peaty

Italian swimmer Nicolo Martinenghi won the gold medal in Paris Olympics 2024 in the swim 100 meters breaststroke.

The 24-year-old athlete was two hundredths of a second ahead of both of his closest competitors, one of whom was three-time Olympic champion Adam Peaty of Great Britain. The Englishman had previously won a gold medal at this distance in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020, and in total he has six Olympic medals of various denominations.

Nick Fink from the USA showed the same time as Peaty. As a result, both athletes shared the second place in the prize standings.

The 2024 Summer Olympics will end on August 11. The competitions will feature 329 sets of awards in 32 sports. Ukraine is represented in Paris by 140 athletes in 23 sports – this is the smallest representation of the blue and yellow during the Olympics.
