Frenchwoman Apiti-Brunet wins 2024 Olympic individual sabre title

In the final, Manon defeated her compatriot Balzer

Frenchwoman Manon Apiti-Brunet became the champion of the individual tournament in sabre fencing on Olympic Games 2024 in Paris.

In the final, Apiti-Brunet faced her compatriot Sarah Balzer, who was seeded number one. Manon won 15-12.

This is the third Olympic medal in Apiti-Brunet’s career. In Tokyo in 2021, Manon won bronze in the individual event and silver in the team competition.

Let us recall that Ukrainian Olga Kharlan won bronze in sabre fencing. This medal was the first for the Ukrainian team at the 2024 Games.

Earlier, Elena Kravatskaya and Alina Komashchuk finished their performances in the singles sabre tournament. Elena lost to the second number in the grid, Misaki Emura from Japan, in a tense fight – 14:15. Alina lost to John Hayon from South Korea – 8:15.
