There is no chance of making a trilogy between Usyk and Joshua yet
Promoter of former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua Eddie Hearn commented on the statement of the promoter of the world champion in the super heavyweight category according to WBO/WBA/IBO/WBC Alexander Usyk Alexandra Krasyuka about holding a third fight between a Briton and a Ukrainian.
“It’s a little wild. I don’t think anyone really wants to fight AJ right now. If he stops Daniel Dubois, I don’t think anyone wants to fight him. But right now, it’s a fantasy fight for the future.”
“Usyk has done a great job. There are two huge heavyweight fights coming up – Joshua vs Dubois and Usyk vs Fury. We’ll see what happens after those fights. Is 200 million a lot? Ask His Excellency if it’s a lot.”
The first fight between Usyk and Joshua took place in September 2021 – the Ukrainian won by decision of the judges (117:112, 116:112, 115:113). In August 2022, a rematch took place – the Ukrainian again celebrated a victory on points, but this time by a split decision of the judges (113:115, 115:113, 116:112).
In his last fight on the night of May 19, Usyk inflicted the first defeat of his professional career on Tyson Fury in a fight that took place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The victory was awarded to the Ukrainian by a split decision of the judges: 115-112, 113-114 and 114-113.
Alexander became the first absolute heavyweight champion in the four-belt era. In the heavyweight division, the last time the absolute title was held was by Lennox Lewis in 1999, but back then three titles were enough to win the title.
Usyk subsequently issued a statement in which he announced that he would give the IBF belt to the winner of the British derby between his two former opponents in the ring – Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua.. Thus, Alexander lost the status of absolute world champion in heavyweight, which he held for more than a month.
The Joshua-Dubois fight will take place on September 21. The arena for the event will be London’s Wembley Stadium. Dubois will defend his IBF heavyweight title there,
