New Heights tournament director Mikhail Butov said he is considering reformatting the competition into a show jumping league.
As part of the international tournament “New Height”, the 12 best jumpers (6 women and 6 men each) will perform on August 3 in Moscow at the amphitheater of the Salyut Heraklion sports complex, and on August 31 the competition will take place in Prokhladny (Kabardino-Balkarian Republic).
The series will bring together Olympic champion Maria Lasitskene, indoor world champion Danil Lysenko, junior world champion Natalya Spiridonova, world and European championship medalists, national championship winners Maria Kochanova, Ilya Ivanyuk, Kristina Koroleva, Karina Demidik.
— We would like to create some kind of international show jumping league. And these two competitions will help us in this. We have something to show. We really want to do everything possible to make this project a reality. We have held negotiations with several cities. In particular, in Nizhny Novgorod, St. Petersburg and Lipetsk, we want to hold competitions there. We are also thinking about competitions abroad. This is a longer and more difficult prospect, but we are trying. We will also invite foreign athletes, we have already talked with them and there is no negativity from them. We will definitely do it next year, I am sure it will be effective, “the correspondent reports, citing Butov’s words.
