Vitaly lost the first set to Turk Kirkin, but made a comeback and snatched victory in the tie-break
Ukrainian tennis player Vitaly Sachko ended his losing streak with a successful start to the ATP Challenger Tour tournament in the Czech Republic Liberec.
The Ukrainian managed to win a strong-willed victory in a tie-break against the fifth seeded Ergi Kirkin from Turkey, who is 145 positions higher in the ATP rankings. The match lasted almost two and a half hours.
The first set was won by Kirkin – 4:6. Vitaliy started the second set with a lost serve, but starting from the score 0:2, he took five games in a row and eventually tied the score in sets. In the decisive set, Sachko was leading 4:2 and 5:3, but his opponent managed to tie and bring the matter to a tie-break. There, the Ukrainian representative won a convincing triumph – 7:3.
This success was the first for Sachko in the last four fights. Let us recall that on July 8, Vitaliy won against the Brazilian Gustavo Heide at the start of the challenger in Iasi, Romania, after which he suffered three defeats in a row, including tournaments in Hamburg, Germany, and Kitzbühel, Austria.
