Athletistic / Rhythmic gymnastics. Russian gymnast Yana Batyrshina, silver medalist at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta (USA), believes that the president of the All-Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation (VFKhG) Irina Viner made a huge contribution to the development of the sport. On July 30, Wiener celebrates her 76th birthday.

“If you trace the history of rhythmic gymnastics, many athletes have their own personal elements and all this was invented and designed together with Irina Alexandrovna.

When I was a gymnast, there was no concept of “nominal element” in the rules. But even then, we made our own elements. And some of them cannot be repeated by anyone in the world.

We all know that Wiener is in the hall from morning till night. He is ready to train everyone. It remains only to wish him patience in his difficult work. And so that Irina Alexandrovna enjoys training and communicating with gymnasts, “Batyrshina was quoted as saying by Match TV.

Since February 2022, Russian gymnasts, by decision of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), are not allowed to participate in international competitions due to the events in Ukraine. Russia will not be represented in rhythmic gymnastics at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris (France).

Four students of Irina Viner became Olympic champions. She is a Hero of Labor of the Russian Federation, Honored Worker of Physical Culture of the Russian Federation (1997), and also a full holder of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland.
