Kostyuk and Yastremska withdrew from the second round of the doubles at the 2024 Olympic Games

Marta just made it to the quarterfinals of the singles draw, and for Dayana, the Olympics are over.

Ukrainians Marta Kostyuk And Dayana Yastremskaya were forced to withdraw from the women’s doubles tennis tournament on Olympic Games 2024 in Paris.

Their second round match against Xie Shuwei and Chia-Yi Cao from Taiwan was scheduled for today, July 30, and was supposed to start at 21:30. However, just an hour and a half ago, Kostyuk finished a tiring match in singles against Greek Maria Sakkari. Let us recall that Marta managed to win a strong-willed victory and become the only Ukrainian in the quarterfinals of the women’s grid at the 2024 Olympic Games.

For Yastremska, withdrawal from the doubles match means an automatic end to her participation in the Paris Olympics. Earlier, Dayana lost to Colombian Camila Osorio in the second round of the singles draw. In addition, Angelina Kalinina was unable to compete in Paris due to health reasons, and Elina Svitolina lost to Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova in a fight for the quarterfinals.

In the doubles category, Ukraine was not left without its representatives. Let us recall that Lyudmila and Nadezhda Kichenok also made it to the second round earlier. Their opponents will be determined later.
