Shovkovsky: We prepared for this game with a great desire to demonstrate our best qualities

The coach of the White-Blues also spoke about the personnel situation in the team

Head coach Dynamo Alexander Shovkovskiy commented on the upcoming return match against Serbia Partisan in the second qualifying round Champions League 2024/25.

“Of course, the first game is of great importance, but professionals should not distinguish between victories and defeats and prepare for any game with the utmost desire to show their best qualities – both individually each player and the team as a whole. Therefore, we prepared for this game with a great desire to demonstrate a good game, our fighting qualities. As they say, we have only played the first half, and the second will take place tomorrow at this stadium.”

“Only Oleksandr Tymchyk is currently not included in the game application. However, Taras Mikhavko and Matvey Ponomarenko, who played at the European Youth Championship, have joined the team. They are already preparing with the team. Therefore, everyone is in the lineup and preparing for the upcoming game. As for the starting lineup itself, we will decide this evening, or tomorrow morning we will make certain adjustments. But you will find out about this before the match.”

Let us recall that Dynamo has already arrived in Belgrade for the return match with Partizan. In total, Shovkovskiy brought 27 football players to the match, including Taras Mikhavko and Matvey Ponomarenko, who played for the Ukrainian U-19 team at the 2024 European Youth Championship.

Dynamo defeated Partizan in the first match of the second qualifying round of the Champions League (6:2). Before the match, which took place in Lublin, Poland, the Kiev team refused all official events with the Serbian club, which had previously traveled to the “brotherly” tournament in Moscow.

The return match will take place tomorrow, July 31. The game will start at 21:00 Kyiv time. The match at the Partizan Arena will be held without spectators. The Romanian referee team headed by Marian Barbu will referee the match.

Dynamo’s next opponent in the League Path could be Scottish Rangers. The Kievans will play in the third qualifying round if they do not allow Partizan to perform a miracle in Belgrade.
