Athletistic / Olympic Games. Six-time Olympic foil champion Valentina Vezzali of Italy has said that due to Russia’s absence, it is difficult for her to watch the fencing competitions at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.

“It is very painful to see that at the 2024 Olympics the podium of women’s foil is entirely North American. There was not a single Russian in Paris, the strong Inna Deriglazova was absent from the competition. I respect all athletes, but this is blasphemy. “It is clear that fencing has now changed, it has become more open, but when I was young, already thirty years ago, only Europe dominated our sport. But now everything is different, globalization is underway,” La Repubblica quotes Vezzali.

  • See it for yourself. Russia has announced a boycott of the Paris Olympics.

On July 28, American Lee Kiefer won the foil event at the 2024 Olympic Games, with silver going to her compatriot Lauren Scruggs and Canadian Eleanor Harvey taking bronze.

Russian fencers will not participate in the 2024 Olympic Games due to the politicized stance of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Inna Deriglazova is the Olympic champion of the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games and the silver medalist of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the individual foil. She also won the team foil at the Olympic Games in the capital of Japan.
