But when liberal democracies cannot fight, sanctions are used, including pressure from the IOC.
“The exclusion of Russia and Belarus from the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris is a blatant case of the IOC’s policy of racial discrimination and double standards. It is obvious that such actions of the IOC constitute segregation based on nationality,” Zakharova wrote on her Telegram channel.

The day before, on June 30, Mark Adams had responded to the question of Palestine: “There are now 20 to 30 wars in the world, and if they responded to the complaints of all the teams, no one would participate in the Olympic Games in that situation.” The official said that the IOC was leaving politics.
Athletes from Russia and Belarus are only allowed to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris with individual neutral status and subject to a number of conditions.
