As a result, the Russian team dropped to third place and the gold medal went to the Americans. Canada, which finished fourth, appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to disqualify Russia entirely. If CAS upholds the Canadians’ appeal, the bronze medals will go to them.
