Kapranova attended an event marking Wiener’s 76th birthday, which took place on July 30.

“I think that in the future she will take over the leadership of the Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation and become an excellent leader,” Sputnik quotes Wiener.

Kapranova, 36, is currently a member of the executive committee of the All-Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation. She is a 10-time world champion and a 4-time European champion. At the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, she took 4th place, losing to another Russian Evgenia Kanaeva, Belarusian Inna Zhukova and Ukrainian Anna Bessonova.
