American Ledecky Wins 1500m Freestyle With Olympic Record

The 27-year-old athlete won her eighth Olympic gold in her career

American Katie Ledecky won gold in swimming at 1500 meters freestyle on Olympic Games 2024.

Katie swam the distance in 15 minutes 30.02 seconds, improving her own Olympic record, which she had previously set at Tokyo 2020, by 5 seconds. Silver, 10 seconds behind, was won by Anastasia Kirpichnikova, representing France. Bronze went to Isabelle Goze from Germany.

Ledecky, 27, won her eighth Olympic gold in her career. This is the second medal for the American at the current Games – Katie previously won bronze in the 400m freestyle.

The 2024 Summer Olympics will end on August 11. The competitions will feature 329 sets of awards in 32 sports. Ukraine is represented in Paris by 140 athletes in 23 sports – this is the smallest representation of the blue and yellow during the Olympics.
