Leonova – on the topic of rhythmic dance during the Olympic season: “There is a lot of choice in terms of music, a wide range”

Alena Leonova, silver medalist at the 2012 World Figure Skating Championships, told that the rhythmic dance theme during the Olympic season allows for a wide choice of music.

Earlier, International Skating Union (ISU) chief Sean Rettstatt said the rhythm dance theme for the 2025/26 season was 21st century music.

— I think the idea is good, there is a lot of choice in terms of music, a wide palette. It would be cool for the guys to create something new from well-forgotten old ones, to remember some pieces. It will be easier for the dancers themselves to choose something, comparing it with what happened before.

“I stick more to the period when rhythmic dance was something specific – a waltz, etc., so that the theme was clear. It was more interesting that way, in my opinion,” Leonova told .

The 2026 Winter Olympics will be held in Italy.
