In total, Ukrainian athletes won seven awards on the first day of competition
Judo team of Ukraine won seven medals on the first day of competition at the stage European Cup in Riga and led the medal standings. Ukrainian athletes won three gold, one silver and three bronze medals.
The champions of the competitions in the capital of Latvia are Daria Beloded (weight category up to 57 kg), Anastasia Antipina (up to 63 kg) and Artem Khomula (up to 73 kg).
Note that this is Beloded’s first medal in the new weight category. In the summer of 2021, Daria became the bronze medalist of the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo in the category up to 48 kg.
The silver medalist of the tournament in Riga was Denis Tupitsky (up to 60 kg). Bronze medals won Bekirbek Morgoev (up to 60 kg), Kirill Samotug (up to 60 kg) and Stanislav Semkov (up to 66 kg).
Stage of the European Cup in Riga will end on 7 August.
