Bukhov: Does it matter that I came to the Olympics as a world champion? I don’t pay attention.

Ukrainian admits he is performing at the Games while feeling ill

Ukrainian swimmer Vladislav Bukhov commented on his performance in the qualification Olympic Games 2024 in distance swimming 50 meters freestyle.

“I’m sick now, but I have to do my job. So I’m doing the best I can.”

“I kind of thought it would close [квалификация] by 21.9 seconds. Not a fast pool? It’s just shallow and the pull is much less. When you row, your stroke pushes off the bottom and comes to you. And when the pool is deep, then it’s not so noticeable.”

“Does it pay attention to the fact that I came to the Olympics as a world champion? I don’t pay attention. I just swim and that’s it.”

Bukhov covered the distance in 21.89 seconds, which was the 11th result in the qualification out of 74 participants. Vladislav received a ticket to the semi-finals of the 2024 Olympic Games, which will take place this evening. The start is 21:37 Kyiv time.

Ukraine won two medals at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris — Sergey Kulish won silver in the 50-meter air rifle shooting competition, and Olga Harlan won a bronze medal in sabre fencing.

The competition will feature 329 sets of awards in 32 sports. Ukraine is represented in Paris by 140 athletes in 23 sports – this is the smallest representation of the blue and yellow during the Olympics.
