Red Bull Sporting Director Whitley to Take Over Audi Formula 1 Team

Whitley has been with the Red Bull team since 2006

Sports Director Red Bull Jonathan Wheatley will step down from his position at the end of the 2024 season.

The 57-year-old specialist’s new job will be with the Audi team, where he will take the position of manager.

Whitley has been with Red Bull since 2006 and has made a huge contribution to six Constructors’ and seven Drivers’ World Championships, first as Team Principal and then as Sporting Director.

Let us recall that in March of this year, Audi officially bought 100% of the shares of the Sauber team. The German auto concern will become a factory Formula 1 team starting in 2026.

It was previously reported that from August 1, former Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto will become the chief operating officer and technical director of the Audi team.

There have been 14 stages in the current Formula 1 season. In the drivers’ standings, reigning champion Max Verstappen is confidently leading, with his Red Bull team leading the Constructors’ Cup.

The next Grand Prix of the Formula 1 season will be held in the Netherlands. The main race will take place on August 25.
