Ishmuratova on the decision on bronze in the team figure skating tournament at the 2022 Olympics: “In the last case, CAS judged objectively”

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has issued an objective decision, rejecting the Canadian team’s appeal against the results of the team figure skating tournament at the 2022 Olympic Games, the two-time Olympic biathlon champion told . Svetlana Ichmouratova .

Earlier, CAS rejected the Canadian side’s appeal against the results of the team figure skating tournament at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing. The Russian athletes retained their bronze medal.

— Yes, there hasn’t been much good news lately. Bronze is a consolation prize for our figure skating team. Of course, our guys are the best in the world, even with the disqualification of one athlete, they remained on the Olympic podium.

But in this last case, I would like to thank CAS. This time they judged it objectively,” Ishmuratova told .

The Russian team won the team tournament, but after Kamila Valieva was disqualified for an anti-doping rule violation, the results of the competition were revised. The International Skating Union (ISU), after canceling Valieva’s results, placed the American team in first place, the Japanese team in second place, and the Russian team was supposed to receive bronze. Team Canada, which placed fourth, also claimed third place by filing an appeal with CAS against the ISU decision.

As a result, the American team took first place in the tournament with 65 points, the Japanese team (63) took second place, and the Russian team (54) took third place. Valieva, Mark Kondratyuk, Anastasia Mishina and Alexander Gallyamov, Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katsalapov performed for the Russian team in Beijing.

Earlier it was reported that the medal ceremony, which will be attended by Americans and Japanese, will take place on August 7 in Paris.
