The team gold in sabre was Olga’s sixth Olympic award in her career.
Fencer Olga Harlan installed a new one Ukrainian record by number of medals per Olympic Games.
Olga became an Olympic champion as part of the women’s national team in sabre fencing at the 2024 Games in Paris. In total, she has six Olympic medals to her name.
Previously, the Ukrainian became the champion in team sabre at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, and also won silver in the team competition at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro. In individual sabre, Olga won the Olympic bronze medal three times – in London 2012, Rio 2016 and Paris 2024.
In terms of the number of awards at the Olympic Games, Harlan has surpassed Yana Klochkova. The Ukrainian swimmer had previously become a champion four times (2000 and 2004), and also won silver at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.
The women’s sabre team brought Ukraine its third medal at the current Games in Paris. In addition to the bronze award Harlan in individual competitions in sabre fencing, Sergey Kulish won silver in the 50-meter air rifle three-position event. Another medal for Ukraine was guaranteed by a boxer Alexander Khizhnyak.
