American swimmer Katie Ledecky repeated the feat of the Soviet gymnast Larissa Latynina by the number of gold medals at the Olympic Games.
On Saturday, Ledecky won the 800-meter freestyle at the Paris Olympics. For the 27-year-old American, this Olympic gold medal was the ninth of her career. Larisa Latynina has the same number of highest medals.
Latynina won gold at the 1956, 1960 and 1964 Games. Ledecky is the 2012, 2016, 2020 and 2024 Olympic champion.
The Olympic Games in the French capital will end on August 11.
