The fate of both sets was decided in a tie-break
On Olympic Games 2024 The final of the men’s tennis tournament in singles took place – Novak Djokovic beat in two sets Carlos Alcaraz and became the Olympic champion in Paris.
The match lasted 2 hours and 52 minutes. The first set was marked by a very tense and equal fight – Novak and Carlos methodically took game after game on their serve, and in the end the fate of the set had to be determined in a tie-break. Djokovic celebrated the victory, making two mini-breaks.
The second set was absolutely identical. Once again, the spectators of the Philippe Chatrier court never saw a break from either side. Both tennis players acted perfectly on their serves, and in another tie-break, Djokovic once again celebrated victory.
Novak made his Olympic debut in 2008 in Beijing, where he won bronze. Since then, the Serb has never stood on the Olympic podium, and this gold in Paris was the first Olympic gold medal in his career.
Let us recall that in the final of the women’s tennis tournament in singles, the Chinese Zheng Qingwen triumphed, beating the Croatian representative Donna Vekic in two sets.
Ukraine was left without medals in tennis at the 2024 Olympic Games. The Kichenok sisters (in doubles) and Marta Kostyuk (in singles) were one step away from the semi-finals. Elina Svitolina left the tournament at the 1/8 final stage, Dayana Yastremska dropped out in the second round, and Angelina Kalinina was forced to withdraw from the competition due to illness.
