On Monday, the press service of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service reported that the United States is preparing a series of publications on doping abuses that have allegedly been discovered in Russian sports. It is noted that “the focus will be on sports in which Russia is traditionally strong – rhythmic gymnastics, synchronized swimming and figure skating.”
– Why is the United States doing this… It would be better if they promoted their athletes. Unfortunately, these are the sports that always bring us (medals), so we decided to work on them,” Rodnina told .
The SVR also said that the project was supervised by the former director of the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory, Grigory Rodchenkov, and the laboratory’s deputy head, Timofey Sobolevsky.
