Oleg Vernyaev took eighth place
Ukrainian gymnast Ilya Kovtun conquered silver medal in exercises on parallel bars in artistic gymnastics Olympics 2024.
The Ukrainian went for the highest difficulty (7.000) among all the finalists in his program. Ilya eventually earned 15.500 points. Gold was won by China’s Zou Jingyuan, bronze was won by two-time Olympic champion Shinnosuke Oka from Japan.

Let us recall that Kovtun took fourth place in the absolute championship in artistic gymnastics, as well as in floor exercises. Verniayev became eighth in the all-around, and took fifth place in exercises on the pommel horse.
Ukraine won its seventh medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Earlier, the women’s team won gold in sabre fencing. Also earlier Olga Harlan won a bronze medal in individual sabre fencing. Sergey Kulish won silver in the 50m air rifle three-position event. In the high jump Yaroslav Maguchikh became the Olympic champion, and Irina Gerashchenko won bronze. Mikhail Kokhan won a bronze medal in hammer throw. Another medal for Ukraine was guaranteed by boxer Alexander Khizhnyak, who made it to the final in the 80 kg weight category.
The 2024 Olympic Games will end on August 11. The competitions will feature 329 sets of awards in 32 sports. Ukraine is represented in Paris by 140 athletes in 23 sports – this is the smallest representation of the blue and yellow during the Olympics.
